I’m the sort of person that starts to itch just hearing the word organization. I have no problem being relatively organized in the kitchen or back when I ran a babysitting gig, but when it comes to my desk and writing stuff…well, let’s just say I have my ways of finding what I want when I want it amid those piles of papers and books.
What about when keeping up with articles in progress, the great novel, the tidbits of blog ideas? I’ve always, ALWAYS carried a notebook and left several lying about the house with pens scattered about as well. These days, I do so much on my computer and my BlackBerry that I went looking for a way to save all my notes for articles, book ideas, pending blog posts, websites I’ve saved to look at later, great blog posts I want to quote or read again, shoes I want to buy…all of that important stuff that makes me, me. (I still always have pen and paper handy)
In seeking, I have discovered a fantastic –and free!–tool called Evernote. Click the link and check it out, for I really can’t do it justice in trying to explain. Some features that I love, you might not or some might jump out at you that I’ve not noticed. In Evernote, I can make notebooks and pages galore of notes and save them. Snippets from my web surfing, the address list for my son’s commencement party, grocery list, client deadlines, recipes,article/book research notes, you name it and it fits in Evernote perfectly. I also like that I can sync Evernote with my BlackBerry and have that recipe or grocery list handy on the go, but the biggest benefit is right here on my laptop as I write, surf, whatever.
If you’re looking for a tool in which you can stash every note you could possibly want, all in one place, take a look at Evernote and see what you think—you might just love it like I do!
